On the morning of February 5, one novel coronavirus patient suffered from acute left heart failure and acute coronary syndrome, and died during emergency treatment in Haihe Hospital. This is the first death in Tianjin.
The death is the 50th case, a 66-year-old female living in Baodi District, and she shopped in the department store in Baidi District on January 22. On February 2, the women had a fever and cough and saw a doctor in Baodi People’s Hospital. Later, she was confirmed as the 50th case by the expert panel and transferred to Haihe Hospital on February 3.
The patient had a history of type 2 diabetes for more than 30 years, hypertension for 9 years and coronary artery bypass surgery for 2 years. When hospitalized, she received further examinations, and the expert panel in Tianjin attended a consultation for her on February 3. According to the Diagnosis and Treatment of Pneumonia Infected by Novel Coronavirus (4th Trial Edition), antiviral and other symptomatic treatments were given based on the patient's condition. At 1: 10, February 5, the patient experienced wheezing and intermittent cough with a little pink foam sputum after going to the toilet. Considering her previous medical history, symptoms and vital signs coupled with acute heart failure, symptomatic treatments such as oxygen inhalation, diuresis, cardiotonic and vasodilation as well as rescue treatments such as tracheal intubation and chest compressions were given to the patient.
At 3: 16, February 5, clinical death was announced. Preliminary determination of the cause of death was acute left heart failure and acute coronary syndrome.
As of 6:00, February 5, Tianjin had confirmed a total of 69 cases of pneumonia caused by the novel coronavirus, with 4 in critical conditions,19 in severe conditions and 43 in common conditions. Two patients were discharged from hospital after recovery and one died.
