At the press conference held on February 5, Wu Qi, head of the Tianjin novel coronavirus expert panel, introduced the treatment of critically infected patients among those confirmed cases and the national criteria for critically infected patients when he answered reporters’ questions.
Wu said that according to the national criteria, critically infected patients mainly refer to those who need mechanical ventilation, patients with shock, and patients who have severe multiple organ failure.
Currently, the four critically infected novel coronavirus cases in Tianjin are all in stable condition after treatment. “One of them was relatively serious and was treated with CRT. As we all know, for viral pneumonia, the use of mechanical ventilation and CRT indicates that the patient is in critical condition. Fortunately, this patient has been rescued timely and effectively, and his vital signs are relatively stable. The other three patients also have received symptomatic treatment, and their potential complications are expected to be prevented,” Wu explained.
