The intelligent container terminal project in the section C of the Beijiang Port Area of Tianjin Port is resuming operation in an orderly fashion. A busy construction site with excavators and earth-moving trucks coming and going could be seen on March 11. Wharf dredging and piling, and land leveling and construction are steadily underway.
As one of the major measures of building a world-class intelligent port and green port, the project, which was started at the end of last year, is expected to have a total investment of 5.7 billion yuan(roughly USD 82 million), and the terminal shoreline is 1,100 meters long. A new generation of intelligent container terminal that is people-oriented, safe, healthy and environment-friendly which secure multiple world firsts will be completed in the future, a terminal that can enable berthing operation of the world's largest container ships.
The new generation of “smart and green container terminal” is supported by the advanced systems of independent R & D including intelligent dispatching, intelligent operation, intelligent transportation, intelligent gate, intelligent cargo handling, intelligent energy, intelligent monitoring and intelligent security and protection, and also by modern information technologies such as 5G, big data, cloud computing, Internet of Things, and artificial intelligence. Compared with the traditional mode of automatic loading and unloading operations vertically arranged in the container terminal, this plan, based on the same shoreline length and land resource and condition, proves to be more efficient and convenient while keeping the cost to the minimum, and once put into practice, the overall design and production efficiency of the terminal will be improved by 5 percent, input will be reduced by 10 percent, energy consumption will drop by 50 percent, and operation cost will be lowered by 25 percent.
As the enterprises have been gradually resuming work and production in Tianjin, seven world-class port projects have all restarted operation including the 100,000-ton waterway Phase I project in the Gaoshaling Port Area of Tianjin Port, the supporting dredging project of the west harbor basin in the Dagang Port Area of Tianjin Port, the terminal project of the construction of the Tianjin Marine Engineering Equipment Manufacturing Base, the intelligent container terminal project in Section C of the Beijiang Port Area of Tianjin Port, the Haijia Automobile Ro-Ro terminal project in the north harbor basin of Tianjin Port, the Bohua liquid chemical terminal project in the Dagang Port Area of Tianjin Port, and the BOMESC No. 2 terminal project of the Tianjin Port Dagukou Port Area.
