Tianjin confirmed one imported case from the UK amid no new domestically transmitted cases of COVID-19 from 6:00 to 18:00, March 19, according to the Tianjin Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The city has confirmed a total of 136 domestically transmitted cases so far, among which 73 are males and 63 females. 133 patients have been discharged from hospital after recovery and 3 died. 5 people are suspected of being infected with the virus. A total of 2,637 close contacts have been traced, among them 130 are under medical observation.

The first imported case is a 23-year-old student returning from London with her domicile in the city’s Hongqiao District. She stopped over in Zurich, from London by plane (Flight Number: LX-451) on March 16 and in Tokyo on March 17 (Flight Number: LX-160) from Zurich. She then flew from Tokyo (Flight Number: CA-926) to Beijing, arriving at Beijing Capital International Airport at 18:40, March 17, and was transported by the COVID-19 cases carrying vehicle of Beijing to China International Exhibition Center. She was transferred to Tianjin taking the COVID-19 cases carrying vehicle of Tianjin in the early morning of March 18 and was sent to the centralized quarantine site, Yintai Hotel in Hongqiao District, for medical observation.

The girl developed a fever at 23:00 March 18 and was sent to the fever clinic of Tianjin People’s Hospital, diagnosed as a suspected case of COVID-19. She tested positive on March 19 and was confirmed as a COVID-19 case, in common conditions, in Tianjin by the expert panel. The patient is now in Haihe Hospital. 29 close contacts of the girl in the city has been transferred to the centralized quarantine site for medical observation. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Hongqiao District has carried out terminal disinfection to Yintai Hotel and the carrying vehicle.
