Tianjin confirmed 2 newly imported cases of COVID-19 (Chinese nationality) amid no new domestically transmitted cases from 18:00, March 31 to 6:00, April 1, bringing the total of imported cases of COVID-19 in the city to 40 (36 of Chinese nationality, 2, American, 1, French and 1, Philippine), with 3 in severe conditions, 25 in common conditions, 8 in mild conditions and 2 in unknown conditions, and 2 discharged from hospital after recovery, according to the Tianjin Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The 39th case is a 27-year-old male of Chinese nationality, who lives in Xicheng District, Beijing and studies in Columbia University. He arrived at Tianjin Binhai International Airport by flight CA982 from New York on March 23 and was transferred to Quanshui Hot Spring Hotel, Beichen District for centralized quarantine. He was transferred to the fever clinic of Tianjin Medical University General Hospital Airport Hospital due to cough and other symptoms on March 31 with body temperature at 36.7℃. The throat swab specimen of the patient tested positive on April 1, and he was confirmed as the 39th imported case, in unknown conditions, in Tianjin by the expert panel. The patient is now in Haihe Hospital and epidemiological investigations are under way.
The 40th case is a 30-year-old female of Chinese nationality, who lives in Hongqiao District, Tianjin and studies in Universidad Complutense de Madrid. She arrived at Beijing Capital International Airport by flight CA908 from Madrid on March 21 and was transferred to Baoxuan Hotel, Hexi District taking the COVID-19 cases carrying vehicle of Tianjin for centralized quarantine. The woman was transferred to the fever clinic of Tianjin Medical University General Hospital Airport Hospital due to feebleness and nasal obstruction on March 31 with body temperature at 36.4℃. The throat swab specimen of the patient tested positive on April 1, and she was confirmed as the 40th imported case, in unknown conditions, in Tianjin by the expert panel. The patient is now in Haihe Hospital and epidemiological investigations are under way.
Tianjin has reported 93 suspected cases of COVID-19 so far. A total of 3,008 close contacts have been traced, and among them 371 are under medical observation.
