The industrial and commercial activity of Montevideo accounts for over three-quarters of the country's total. The city's economy is dominated by tourism, textiles, food processing, leather making, livestock breeding, oil refining and chemical engineering. The port of Montevideo handles over 90% of the country's exports and imports. Moreover, this coastal city boasts a number of seaside tourist attractions.
