【City Characteristics】Lodz, located in the central Poland, is the provincial capital of the Lodz province. It is the second largest city and a significant industrial center of textiles, telecommunications and chemical engineering in Poland. Its textiles production, involving cotton, wool, silk and chemical fiber, accounts for 40% of the nation's total in terms of annual output. The city is also a railway transportation hub linking Warsaw and Wroclaw. Lodz is home to six higher education establishments. It is also a center of film production, fine art and crafts in Poland.
