卡拉奇市位于巴基斯坦信德省南部海岸、印度河三角洲西北部，南濒临阿拉伯海，居莱里河与玛利尔河之间的平原上，属热带海洋性气候。卡拉奇市为信德省省会，是巴第一大城市，全国工业、商业、金融和媒体中心，也是南亚及穆斯林世界高等教育的主要枢纽，巴大型企业均集中于此。人口2000万，面积3527平方公里，其中城区面积1821平方公里，分5个区，下辖18个镇。有卡拉奇港和卡西姆港两大港口。1947年至1959年间曾作为巴首都。市内高楼林立，巴最高建筑哈比卜银行坐落于此。商业中心热闹繁华，交通拥挤，海滨风光旖旎，椰林随风摇曳。中巴经济走廊框架下卡西姆港燃煤电站项目位于卡拉奇市。

Divided into 5 districts and 18 towns, the city has a population of 20 million and an area of 3,527 square kilometers, including an urban area of 1,821 square kilometers. It has two major ports: the Port of Karachi and the Port Qasim. There are many high-rise buildings in the city, including Habib Bank, the tallest building in Pakistan. There is also a bustling CBD with heavy traffic and a picturesque beach with coconut trees.

The Port Qasim Coal-fired Power Station Project under the CPEC is also located in Karachi.
